Curious to explore the wine history of Florence? This unique food and wine tour in Florence explores ancient "wine doors", which are small windows, big enough for wine bottles, carved out on noble palazzi during the Renaissance to sell wine.
There are over 180 of these architectural curiosities, and started popping up in Florence in the 1500’s as a way for wine makers in the Tuscan countryside to be able to sell their wine in the city, then utilized for sanitizing money during the Plague.
Over this 3 hour city food and wine tour in Florence, you’ll be led by a specialized expert with an art history and sommelier background to learn about the centuries of Florentine wine culture, architectural gems, quality Italian wines along with a varied selection of local gourmet foods.

• 2 sit-down tasting stops: sparkling wine with tagliere charcuterie inside a noble family palace (almost 30 generations), Tuscan red & white wine with gourmet small plates (Italian tomato and burrata crostini, Tuscan pork confit with wine pickled veggies, etc) at a buzzing wine & cocktail lounge in the Oltrarno
• Travel back in time to grab a glass of vino from a wine door still in function today in one of Florence’s former red light districts
